 2022 Preview 


       Northside completed the 2021 season with a 10-2 record. Last year Northside captured the region five title and a number one seed in the Class 4A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Northside reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Good Hope by a score of 35-21.

       The defense was very stingy last season as Northside ranked 39th in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 14.9 points a game.

       Since 2010, Northside has gone a combined 85-48. Their 63.9% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 4A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Northside has managed to compile a record of 113-150. Their 43.0% winning percentage ranks 40th in Class 4A and 259th in the AHSAA.




       The Rams will be under the direction of new head football coach Robbie Jones as they enter the 2022 season.  Coach Jones served as an assistant coach at Northside last season.

       The Northside Rams will play in Class 4A region five during the 2022 season.

       Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier.

       The Rams enter the 2022 season riding a 8 game regular season winning streak. Northside has won 6 consecutive region games. The Rams should be considered one of the favorites for the region five championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

       The Rams open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Hale County on Friday, August 19 at Howell Field. Last year the Hale County Wildcats finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 3A region three. The Wildcats lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to T.R. Miller by a score of 20-7.

       Northside and Hale County have met a total of 49 times on the football field. The Rams have a 19-30-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2021 with Northside winning by a score of 42-7.

       Northside returns 4A All-State Junior defensive lineman Brendan Parsons. He was named to the second team last season.

Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden was a star quarterback at Woodlawn high school in Birmingham.
