2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Haleyville completed the 2021 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Haleyville just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 4A region five with a 2-4 region record. Since 2010, Haleyville has gone a combined 72-59. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 26th in Class 4A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Haleyville has managed to compile a record of 137-131. Their 51.0% winning percentage ranks 26th in Class 4A and 181st in the AHSAA. The Lions will be under the direction of new head football coach Bo Culver as they enter the 2022 season. Coach Culver served as an assistant coach at Hamilton in 2021. Coach Culver's overall record as a head football coach in ten season stands at 63-50 (55.8%). Over the course of his career, Coach Culver's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times and won two region championships. The Haleyville Lions will play in Class 4A region five during the 2022 season. Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. With a little luck and some improvement, the Lions could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region five this season. Haleyville came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year. The Lions open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Rogers on Friday, August 19 at Memorial Stadium/Bubba Scott Field. Last year the Rogers Pirates finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 4A region eight. The Pirates lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Oneonta by a score of 40-14. Haleyville and Rogers have met a total of 7 times on the football field. The Lions have a 4-3-0 record against the Pirates. They last met in 2017 with Rogers winning by a score of 45-7. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
