 2022 Preview 


       Huffman finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Huffman finished sixth in Class 6A region five with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The defense allowed a team record 443 points last season. The Vikings last playoff victory came during the 2001 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

       Huffman struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 44.3 points a game.

       Since 2010, Huffman has gone a combined 36-85. Their 29.8% winning percentage ranks 52nd in Class 6A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Huffman has managed to compile a record of 118-144. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 6A and 240th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2007.




       The Vikings will be under the direction of new head football coach Marlon Bush as they enter the 2022 season.  Coach Bush served as the defensive coordinator for the Vikings last season.

       The Vikings have nowhere to go but up under new Coach Marlon Bush.

       The Huffman Vikings will play in Class 6A region six during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Vikings remain in 6A but move from region five over to region six.

       This season, the Vikings will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region six.

       The Vikings open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Minor on Friday, August 19 at Minor Stadium. Last year the Minor Tigers finished with an overall record of 2-7 and in fifth place in Class 6A region six. The Tigers ended last season on a positive note with a win over Woodlawn by a score of 35-13 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Huffman and Minor have met a total of 9 times on the football field. The Vikings have a 2-7-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2005 with Huffman winning by a score of 21-20.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Parrish scored a record 77 points in a playoff game against Cedar Bluff in 2001. The Tornados were shutout the following week 19-0 by Courtland.
