2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
LeFlore finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year LeFlore finished seventh in Class 5A region one with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The defense allowed a team record 415 points last season. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as LeFlore averaged scoring just 8.5 points a game. The Rattlers also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 41.5 points a game. The Rattlers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 1-19 record. Since 2010, LeFlore has gone a combined 33-91. Their 26.6% winning percentage ranks 52nd in Class 5A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, LeFlore has managed to compile a record of 93-169. Their 36.0% winning percentage ranks 45th in Class 5A and 316th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2010. The Rattlers will be under the direction of new head football coach Renardo Jackson as they enter the 2022 season. Coach Jackson was the defensive coordinator at Vigor in 2021. The Rattlers will have a new coach for the fourth time in five seasons. The LeFlore Rattlers will play in Class 5A region one during the 2022 season. The Rattlers have one of the toughest schedules in Class 5A. Their opponents had a combined record of 61-50 last season. That ranks 7th in Class 5A and 91st in the AHSAA. The Rattlers enter the 2022 season in the middle of a 13 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Rattlers will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region one. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at LeFlore will be to simply win some games. The Rattlers open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Chickasaw on Friday, August 19 at Dotson Field. Last year the Chickasaw Chieftains finished with an overall record of 6-4 and in fifth place in Class 3A region one. The Chieftains ended last season on a positive note with a win over Francis Marion by a score of 66-0 after failing to gain a playoff spot. LeFlore and Chickasaw have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Rattlers have a 1-1-0 record against the Chieftains.
