 2022 Preview 


       McAdory completed the 2021 season with a 7-4 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 6A region four, the Yellow Jackets earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. McAdory's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Lee Montgomery by a score of 33-25.

       As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, McAdory has gone a combined 104-42. Their 71.2% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 6A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, McAdory has gone a combined 220-77. Their 74.0% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class 6A and 21st in the AHSAA. The Yellow Jackets have been successful on the football field with twenty-four winning seasons during this time.




       The Yellow Jackets are led by head coach Aryvia Holmes who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 7-4 record in his first season at McAdory. The Yellow Jackets saw improvement from a 4-7 record the season before coach Holmes arrived. Under his direction the Yellow Jackets have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Holmes.

       Coach Holmes' overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 7-4 (63.6%).

       The McAdory Yellow Jackets will play in Class 6A region four during the 2022 season.

       The Yellow Jackets will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region four this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 1996 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2022.

       The Yellow Jackets open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Oxford on Friday, August 19 at Lamar Field. Last year the Oxford Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 7-5 and in first place in Class 6A region seven. The Yellow Jackets lost in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs to Pinson Valley by a score of 20-0.

       McAdory and Oxford have met a total of 5 times on the football field. The Yellow Jackets have a 4-1-0 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 2014 with McAdory winning by a score of 40-38.
