2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Moody completed the 2021 season with a 6-4 record. Last year Moody just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 5A region six with a 3-4 region record. The Blue Devils improved in 2021 with their first winning season since 2015. The Blue Devils won as many games as in any season since 2015. The Blue Devils last playoff victory came during the 2004 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. The Blue Devils hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Ganus saw improvement as they won six games following a 0-9 record in 2020. Since 2010, Moody has gone a combined 44-77. Their 36.4% winning percentage ranks 39th in Class 5A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Moody has managed to compile a record of 93-165. Their 36.0% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 5A and 312nd in the AHSAA. The Blue Devils will be under the direction of new head football coach Jake Ganus as they enter the 2022 season. Coach Ganus was the defensive coordinator at Thompson last season. Many fans believe this is the coming out season for the moody Blue Devils. Expectations are at an all time high for the new coaching staff for a team that has not made a playoff appearance since 2014. The Moody Blue Devils will play in Class 5A region six during the 2022 season. The Blue Devils will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region six this season. Moody has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2014 but hope to return to the post season this year. The Blue Devils open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Pell City on Friday, August 19 at Pete Rich-Alumni Stadium. Last year the Pell City Panthers finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in seventh place in Class 6A region seven. The Panthers ended last season on a positive note with a win over Mae Jemison by a score of 50-26 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Moody and Pell City have met a total of 8 times on the football field. The Blue Devils have a 2-6-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in 2011 with Pell City winning by a score of 44-21. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
