 2022 Preview 


       Phil Campbell completed the 2021 season with a 7-4 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 3A region eight, the Bobcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Phil Campbell's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to J.B. Pennington by a score of 10-7.

       The Bobcats won as many games as in any season since 2001. The Bobcats last playoff victory came during the 2000 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. The Bobcats had some tough luck last season as they lost four games, all by less than eight points.

       The defense was very stingy last season as Phil Campbell ranked 22nd in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 13.0 points a game.

       Since 2010, the Phil Campbell football program has struggled with a record of 39-85.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Phil Campbell has not won much with a record of 89-174. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 50th in Class 3A and 329th in the AHSAA.




       The Bobcats are led by head coach Kevin Barnwell who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 19-23 over the past four seasons at Phil Campbell. Under his direction the Bobcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Barnwell.

       Coach Barnwell's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 19-23 (45.2%).

       The Phil Campbell Bobcats will play in Class 3A region eight during the 2022 season. Phil Campbell will face six opponents that reached the playoffs last season.

       The Bobcats will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region eight this season.

       The Bobcats open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Hackleburg on Friday, August 19 at Ray Family Stadium. Last year the Hackleburg Panthers finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in third place in Class 1A region eight. The Panthers lost in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs to Hubbertville by a score of 46-14.

       Phil Campbell and Hackleburg have met a total of 89 times on the football field. The Bobcats have a 38-50-1 record against the Panthers. They last met in 2021 with Phil Campbell winning by a score of 31-8.
