2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Trinity completed the 2021 season with a 9-3 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 3A region four, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Trinity reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Montgomery Academy by a score of 21-17. The defense was very stingy last season as Trinity ranked 34th in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 14.4 points a game. Since 2010, Trinity has gone a combined 84-54. Their 60.9% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Trinity has gone a combined 211-88. Their 71.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class 3A and 30th in the AHSAA. The Wildcats have been successful on the football field with twenty-one winning seasons during this time. The Wildcats are led by head coach Granger Shook who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 19-6 over the past two seasons at Trinity. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Shook. Coach Shook's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 19-6 (76.0%). The Trinity Wildcats will play in Class 3A region three during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Wildcats remain in 3A but move from region four over to region three. Trinity enters the 2022 season with a string of 9 consecutive wins on their home field at Ragsdale-Boykin Field. The Wildcats should be considered one of the favorites for the region three championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Wildcats open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent B.T. Washington on Friday, August 19 at Ragsdale-Boykin Field. Last year the B.T. Washington Golden Eagles finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in fifth place in Class 4A region two. The Golden Eagles closed out the regular season with a loss to Pike Road by a score of 41-6. Trinity and B.T. Washington have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 4-0-0 record against the Golden Eagles. They last met in 2019 with Trinity winning by a score of 43-12. Trinity returns 3A All-State Senior kicker Grayden Flowers. He was named to the first team last season. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
