2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
West Limestone completed the 2021 season with a 5-5 record. Last year West Limestone just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 4A region eight with a 3-4 region record. The Wildcats had some tough luck last season as four of their five losses were by less than eight points. The Wildcats hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they struggled winning just five games which followed a 11-2 record in 2020. Since 2010, West Limestone has gone a combined 76-56. Their 57.6% winning percentage ranks 22nd in Class 4A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, West Limestone has managed to compile a record of 116-147. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 39th in Class 4A and 254th in the AHSAA. The Wildcats are led by head coach Shelby Davis who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 25-18 over the past four seasons at West Limestone. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs once. They have won one region crown with Coach Davis. Coach Davis' overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 25-18 (58.1%). The West Limestone Wildcats will play in Class 4A region seven during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Wildcats remain in 4A but move from region eight over to region seven. With a little luck and some improvement, the Wildcats could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region seven this season. West Limestone came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year. The Wildcats open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Ardmore on Friday, August 19 at James Kennemer Stadium. Last year the Ardmore Tigers finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in fourth place in Class 5A region eight. The Tigers lost in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs to Alexandria by a score of 52-6. West Limestone and Ardmore have met a total of 74 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 44-29-1 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2021 with Ardmore winning by a score of 7-3. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
