 2023 Preview 


       Falkville completed the 2022 season with a 7-5 record. With their 4-2 region record and a second place finish in Class 2A region eight, the Blue Devils earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Falkville reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Aliceville by a score of 38-21.

       The Blue Devils had some tough luck last season as three of their five losses were by less than eight points.

       Since 2010, Falkville has gone a combined 77-64. Their 54.6% winning percentage ranks 17th in Class 2A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Falkville has managed to compile a record of 118-147. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 35th in Class 2A and 245th in the AHSAA.




       The Blue Devils are led by head coach Seth Ward who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 11-11 over the past two seasons at Falkville. Under his direction the Blue Devils have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Ward.

       The Blue Devils lost a lot of talented players to graduation but Falkville has plenty of young talent waiting in the wings this fall.

       The Blue Devils have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region eight this season.

       The Blue Devils open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Vinemont on Friday, August 25 at Burl Vest Stadium. Last year the Vinemont Eagles finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in third place in Class 3A region seven. The Eagles lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to Lauderdale County by a score of 41-7.

       Falkville and Vinemont have met a total of 46 times on the football field. The Blue Devils have a 20-26-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2022 with Vinemont winning by a score of 46-40.

       Falkville lost 2A All-State  defensive back Isaiah Warnick to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating were teammates quarterback Caden Burnett and offensive lineman Austin Melson.
