 2023 Preview 


       Goshen completed the 2022 season with a 6-4 record. Last year Goshen just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 2A region three with a 3-4 region record.

       The Eagles hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Moore saw improvement as they won six games following a 1-9 record in 2021.

       The high-scoring Goshen offense ranked 24th in the AHSAA. They averaged 41.1 points a game.

       Since 2010, Goshen has gone a combined 75-70. Their 51.7% winning percentage ranks 23rd in Class 2A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Goshen has managed to compile a record of 135-137. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 2A and 192nd in the AHSAA.




       The Eagles are led by head coach Don Moore who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 7-13 over the past two seasons at Goshen. The Eagles have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Moore. Over the course of his career, Coach Moore's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times .

       The Eagles could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region three this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Unfortunately, Goshen finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any chance at the postseason. Goshen has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2019 but hope to return to the post season this year.

       The Eagles open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Daleville on Friday, August 25 at Warhawk Stadium. Last year the Daleville Warhawks finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in seventh place in Class 3A region two.

       Goshen and Daleville have met a total of 11 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 2-6-3 record against the Warhawks. They last met in 2022 with Goshen winning by a score of 38-19.

      

       The Eagles return 2A All-State Senior running back Jamari McClure. He was named to the second team last season.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Demopolis scored a record 761 points during the 2004 season. The Tigers finished the season 15-0.
