2023 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Satsuma finished the 2022 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Satsuma finished seventh in Class 4A region one with a 1-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Gators have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2023. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Satsuma averaged scoring just 13.7 points a game. The Gators also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 39.8 points a game. The Gators would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 2-18 record. Since 2010, Satsuma has gone a combined 44-87. Their 33.6% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 4A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Satsuma has not won much with a record of 76-176. Their 30.0% winning percentage ranks 54th in Class 4A and 355th in the AHSAA. The Gators have struggled on the football field with only four winning seasons during this time. The Gators are led by head coach Rodney Jordan who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 1-9 record in his first season at Satsuma. The Gators have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Jordan. This season, the Gators will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region one. The Gators open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent McIntosh on Friday, August 25 at Copeland Field. Last year the McIntosh Demons finished with an overall record of 3-4 and in fifth place in Class 1A region one. Satsuma and McIntosh have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Gators have a 2-0-0 record against the Demons. They last met in with | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
