2023 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Enterprise completed the 2022 season with a 8-4 record. With their 5-3 region record and a third place finish in Class 7A region two, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Enterprise reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Central Phenix City by a score of 45-14. Since 2010, Enterprise has gone a combined 73-69. Their 51.4% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 7A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Enterprise has managed to compile a record of 150-120. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 7A and 123rd in the AHSAA. The Wildcats are led by head coach Ben Blackmon who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 8-4 record in his first season at Enterprise. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Blackmon. His 137 wins rank 38th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Blackmon's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of thirteen times and won five region championships. Coach Blackmon won a state championship at Spanish Fort in 2015. The Wildcats should be in contention for a playoff spot in region two this season. Hosting a first round playoff game on their home turf would be an advantage. The Wildcats will be young on offense this season but do have some talented skilled players. The defense returns nine starters from last years team and will be well seasoned in 2023. Keion Dunlap will return at safety for his senior season. He is considered one of the best in the state. The Wildcats open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Eufaula on Friday, August 25 at Wildcat Stadium. Last year the Eufaula Tigers finished with an overall record of 7-3 and in second place in Class 5A region two. The Tigers lost in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs to Faith Academy by a score of 21-15. Enterprise and Eufaula have met a total of 25 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 18-6-1 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2013 with Enterprise winning by a score of 41-3. Enterprise lost 7A All-State athlete Mykel Johnson to graduation. He was named to the second team last season. Also graduating was teammate athlete Aiden White. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
