 2023 Preview 


       Eufaula completed the 2022 season with a 7-3 record. With their 4-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 5A region two, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Eufaula's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Faith Academy by a score of 21-15.

       Since 2010, Eufaula has gone a combined 99-49. Their 66.9% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 5A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Eufaula has finished a combined 207-84. Their 71.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class 5A and 34th in the AHSAA. The Tigers have been successful on the football field with twenty-two winning seasons during this time.




       The Tigers are led by head coach Jerrell Jernigan who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 7-3 record in his first season at Eufaula. The Tigers saw improvement from a 5-6 record the season before coach Jernigan arrived. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Jernigan.

       The Tigers should be in contention for a playoff spot in region two this season. Hosting a first round playoff game on their home turf would be an advantage. They have reached the playoffs every year since 1997 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2023.

      Safety Toney Coleman will be returning in 2023 to the defense.

       The Tigers open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Enterprise on Friday, August 25 at Wildcat Stadium. Last year the Enterprise Wildcats finished with an overall record of 8-4 and in third place in Class 7A region two. The Wildcats lost in the second round of the Class 7A playoffs to Central Phenix City by a score of 45-14.

       Eufaula and Enterprise have met a total of 25 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 6-18-1 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2013 with Enterprise winning by a score of 41-3.

       Eufaula lost 5A All-State  offensive lineman Patrick Screws to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating was teammate defensive lineman Yhonzae Pierre.
