 2023 Preview 


       Fairhope completed the 2022 season with a 8-3 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 7A region one, the Pirates earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Fairhope's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Auburn by a score of 35-17.

       Since 2010, Fairhope has gone a combined 99-48. Their 67.3% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class 7A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Fairhope has managed to compile a record of 174-106. Their 62.0% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class 7A and 78th in the AHSAA.




       The Pirates are led by head coach Tim Carter who is entering his ninth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 54-32 over the past eight seasons at Fairhope. Under his direction the Pirates have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times. They have won one region crown with Coach Carter. His 152 wins rank 32nd among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Carter's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of sixteen times and won five region championships.

       The Pirates have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region one this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2016 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2023.

       The Pirates open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Spanish Fort on Thursday, August 24 at The Hill. Last year the Spanish Fort Toros finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in third place in Class 6A region one. The Toros lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Pike Road by a score of 22-21.

       Fairhope and Spanish Fort have met a total of 9 times on the football field. The Pirates have a 4-5-0 record against the Toros. They last met in 2022 with Fairhope winning by a score of 34-28.

       Fairhope lost 7A All-State  athlete Caden Creel to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating was teammate receiver Ben Moseley.
