Trinity reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Mobile Christian by a score of 27-13. The defense was very stingy last season as Trinity ranked 22nd in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 13.5 points a game. Since 2010, Trinity has gone a combined 93-57. Their 62.0% winning percentage ranks 15th in Class 3A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Trinity has finished a combined 213-87. Their 71.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 3A and 35th in the AHSAA. The Wildcats have been successful on the football field with twenty-one winning seasons during this time. The Wildcats will be under the direction of new head football coach Brian Seymore as they enter the 2023 season. Coach Seymore took the long road to arrive in Montgomery. He was last at Demopolis for six seasons as the head football coach. His 125 wins rank 46th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Seymore's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of thirteen times and won seven region championships. The Wildcats are considered one of the favorites for the region three championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. QB Walker McClinton will be returning after completing 110 of 158 passes for 1,645 yards last season along with 22 touchdowns. Sophomore Mike Jones will be back this season at running back after rushing for 851 yards and 11 TDs in 2022. The Wildcats open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent B.T. Washington on Friday, August 25 at Eagles Stadium. Last year the B.T. Washington Golden Eagles finished with an overall record of 6-6 and in third place in Class 4A region two. The Golden Eagles lost in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs to Anniston by a score of 38-20. Trinity and B.T. Washington have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 4-0-0 record against the Golden Eagles. They last met in 2022 with Trinity winning by a score of 34-16. Trinity lost 3A All-State receiver David Michael Lieux to graduation.
