2024 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Rehobeth completed the 2023 season with a 6-4 record. Last year Rehobeth just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 5A region two with a 2-3 region record. The Rebels last playoff victory came during the 2005 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Since 2010, the Rehobeth football program has struggled with a record of 47-95. Over the past 25 seasons, Rehobeth has managed to compile a record of 101-157. Their 39.0% winning percentage ranks 46th in Class 6A and 291st in the AHSAA. Head Coach: The Rebels are led by head coach Toby Greene who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 22-20 over the past four seasons at Rehobeth. Under his direction the Rebels have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won one region crown with Coach Greene. His 117 wins rank 52nd among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Greene's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eight times and won three region championships. Season Outlook: The Rehobeth Rebels will play in Class 6A region two during the 2024 season. The Rebels move up in classification to Class 6A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move. The jump to Class 6A for the Rebels may be a little smoother than anticipated. Only one team in Region 2 won more than the Rebels (6-4) did last season. Only two of the current teams in region 2 reached the playoffs last year. While the Rebels themselves have not reached the playoffs since 2020 they will have a goal of getting back in 2024. While they finished 6-4 last year, the Rebels will need to improve a little to reach that mark again this season. The Rebels return just four starters from last year on offense and six to the defense. Several younger players will be counted on early if the Rebels hope to be competitive in 6A this season. Coach Greene had this to say about his Rebels in 2024. ''Moving to 6A. In non-region renewing old rivals with Ashford and Cottonwood.'' The Rebels have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region two this season. Rehobeth has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2020 but hope to return to the post season this year. Returning Starters: OFFENSE: WR- Russell Ash, OL- Bear Mullins, OL- Tyler Shaw (part time starter) WB- John Quarles DEFENSE: DL- Latrail Davis, DL- Gabe Mendez, LB- Heath Mathison, SS- Will Martin, DB- Jorn Ingram, CB- Tyshaun Austin NEWCOMERS: WR- EJ Holmes, WR/RB- Tevin James, LB- Kadon Springfield, TE- Austin Robinson Season Opener: The Rebels open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent Ashford on Friday, August 23 at W.F. Andrews Field. Last year the Ashford Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in seventh place in Class 3A region two. The Yellow Jackets closed out the regular season with a loss to Opp by a score of 50-48. Rehobeth and Ashford have met a total of 77 times on the football field. The Rebels have a 32-43-2 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 2021 with Rehobeth winning by a score of 16-6. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
