2024 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Carver completed the 2023 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Carver finished eighth in Class 5A region five with a 1-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Rams last playoff victory came during the 1984 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Since 2010, Carver has gone a combined 44-97. Their 31.2% winning percentage ranks 49th in Class 5A over the past fourteen seasons. Over the past 24 seasons, Carver has not won much with a record of 65-177. Their 27.0% winning percentage ranks 54th in Class 5A and 362nd in the AHSAA. Graduated All-State Players: Carver lost 5A All-State defensive back Tamarcus Threatt to graduation. He was named to the second team last season. Head Coach: The Rams are led by head coach Rod Carson who is entering his ninth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 33-48 over the past eight seasons at Carver. Under his direction the Rams have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Carson. Season Outlook: The Carver Rams will play in Class 5A region five during the 2024 season. The Rams return an excellent starting quarterback in DeJarvis Wade II. He will be expected to carry the load for the offense in 2024. The Rams have not qualified for the playoffs since 2017 but this could be the year they break that drought. The Rams will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region five this season. Players to Watch in 2024: QB DeJarvis Wade II will be back for his senior season after completing 158-of-287 passes for 2,252 yards and 24 TDs last season. Dimitri Howard will also be back for his senior season after catching 17 passes for 420 yards and 5 TDs last season. Returning Starters: RB Tarjuan Johnson, WR Steven Sigler II Season Opener: The Rams open the 2024 season at home against region opponent John Carroll on Friday, September 6 at Carver High School Stadium. Last year the John Carroll Cavaliers finished with an overall record of 9-3 and in third place in Class 5A region five. The Cavaliers lost in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs to Guntersville by a score of 20-17. Carver and John Carroll have met a total of 10 times on the football field. The Rams have a 5-5-0 record against the Cavaliers. They last met in 2023 with John Carroll winning by a score of 43-26. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
