 2024 Preview

Dora completed the 2023 season with a 8-3 record. Last year Dora captured the region five title and a number one seed in the Class 4A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-1 record. Dora's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Priceville by a score of 18-14.

The Bulldogs had some tough luck last season as they lost three games, all by less than eight points.

Since 2010, Dora has gone a combined 81-76. Their 51.6% winning percentage ranks 31st in Class 4A over the past fourteen seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Dora has managed to compile a record of 141-137. Their 51.0% winning percentage ranks 35th in Class 4A and 194th in the AHSAA.

Graduated All-State Players:
Dora lost 4A All-State  athlete Kesean Pryor to graduation. He was named to the second team last season. Also graduating was teammate defensive back Josh Williams.

Head Coach:
The Bulldogs are led by head coach Chavis Williams who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 22-12 over the past three seasons at Dora. Under his direction the Bulldogs have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Williams. Over the course of his career, Coach Williams' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times and won two region championships.

Season Outlook:

The Dora Bulldogs will play in Class 4A region five during the 2024 season.

The Bulldogs enter the 2024 season riding a 5 game regular season winning streak.

Back-to-back eight win seasons are the best consecutive seasons in Dora since 2012. The Bulldogs have made the playoffs in each of the past four seasons and there is no reason to believe they will fall short this year.

They will need to get a little more consistent on offense to make a playoff run. Last year in their three losses they did not score more than 20 points in any of them. In seven of their eight wins they scored more than forty points in each game.

The Bulldogs return six players to the offense but only three starters from last season will be back on defense.

Coach Williams said ''We have some key players returning in important positions.''

The Bulldogs are considered one of the favorites for the region five championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

Players to Watch in 2024:
QB Colby Key will be returning for his sophomore season after completing 53-of-98 passes for 1,061 yards and 10 TDs last season.

RB Jayden Griffin will also be returning for his senior season after rushing for 1,433 yards and 18 TDs last season.

Returning Starters:
OFFENSE: Jayden Griffin-RB, Cade Channell-OL, Cam Richardson-OL, Carson Davis-OL, Gage Hogland-OL, Cleveland Jones WR
DEFENSE: JaCoby Foster-DB, Cade Channell-DL, Julian Satterfield-DL
NEWCOMERS: Khaleb Brown-RB, Caden Boshell-OL, Grayson Stephenson DB/RB

Season Opener:
The Bulldogs open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Minor on Friday, August 23 at Minor Stadium. Last year the Minor Tigers finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in fifth place in Class 6A region five. The Tigers ended last season on a positive note with a win over Stanhope Elmore by a score of 28-21 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

Dora and Minor have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 0-2-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 1925 with Minor winning by a score of 13-0.
