 2024 Preview 


       Minor completed the 2023 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Minor just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 6A region five with a 2-4 region record.

       Since 2010, Minor has gone a combined 76-73. Their 51.0% winning percentage ranks 30th in Class 6A over the past fourteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Minor has managed to compile a record of 159-117. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 6A and 116th in the AHSAA.

Head Coach:
       The Tigers are led by head coach Adrian Abrams who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 26-35 over the past six seasons at Minor. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Abrams.

Season Outlook:

       The Minor Tigers will play in Class 6A region five during the 2024 season.

      

       Look out for the Tigers in 2024 as Coach Abrams brings back most of the starters from last season. The offense and defense should be much improved with all the experience returning this fall.

       It very well could be the best team at Minor in a few years.

       The Tigers from Minor have not reached the playoffs since 2020 and have finished fifth in each of the past three seasons in Region 5. So basically they were one victory away from a playoff spot each year. With a little improvement they could make that leap to the playoffs this year.

       Coach Abrams had this to say about this year's team at Minor. ''Great things are happening on Minor Parkway! This year, we will move into our new football facility that is currently in the finishing stages of construction. We are thankful for the support of our community and the new Principal, Dr. Yvette Sanders. We look to build upon the success of the end of our season last year, where we won our final 2 games of the season. Our team has really come together this off-season and has had a phenomenal spring/summer. Our guys are ALL IN for each other! We will open the season at Home against Dora. Come on out and see our athletes compete!''

    The Tigers could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region five this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Minor has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2020 but hope to return to the post season this year.

Season Opener:
       The Tigers open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent Dora on Friday, August 23 at Minor Stadium. Last year the Dora Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in first place in Class 4A region five. The Bulldogs lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Priceville by a score of 18-14.

       Minor and Dora have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 2-0-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 1925 with Minor winning by a score of 13-0.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

In 1925 Langdale tied a record by defeating Milltown 125-0. Hamilton had set the record by thrashing Fayette 125-0 in 1915.
