2024 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Northridge finished the 2023 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Northridge finished seventh in Class 6A region four with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Northridge took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2019. Since 2010, Northridge has gone a combined 68-81. Their 45.6% winning percentage ranks 36th in Class 6A over the past fourteen seasons. Over the past 21 seasons, Northridge has managed to compile a record of 91-128. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 43rd in Class 6A and 265th in the AHSAA. Graduated All-State Players: Northridge lost 6A All-State athlete Nick Sherman to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating was teammate kicker Tucker Cornelius. Head Coach: The Jaguars are led by head coach Ryan Lolley who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 10-11 over the past two seasons at Northridge. Under his direction the Jaguars have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Lolley. His 109 wins rank 56th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Lolley's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of ten times and won six region championships. Season Outlook: The Northridge Jaguars will play in Class 6A region four during the 2024 season. The Jaguars missed the playoffs for the first time since 2019 so second year head coach Ryan Lolley has his work cut out for him in rebuilding the Northridge football program starting in 2024. The Jaguars could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region four this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Northridge came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year. Players to Watch in 2024: QB Rowdy Christensen will be back for his senior season after completing 89-of-136 passes for 1,382 yards and 13 TDs last season. WR Parker Cline will be returning to the offense after catching 19 passes for 426 yards and 2 TDs. WR Mayson Elam will also be returning for his junior season after catching 29 passes for 428 yards last season. Returning Starters: QB Rowdy Christensen, WR Parker Cline, WR Mayson Elam Season Opener: The Jaguars open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Calera on Friday, August 23 at Ricky M. Cairns Memorial Stadium. Last year the Calera Eagles finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in seventh place in Class 6A region three. The Eagles closed out the regular season with a loss to McAdory by a score of 35-31. This will be the second meeting between Northridge and Calera on the football field. The Jaguars have a 1-0-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in with | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
