The Hueytown Golden Gophers will play in Class 6A region four during the 2024 season.

The Golden Gophers enter the 2024 season riding a 6 game regular season winning streak.

The Golden Gophers of Hueytown have qualified for the playoffs in each of the past eight seasons. Their four losses last season were to quality opponents like Ramsay, Clay-Chalkville, Hillcrest and Benjamin Russell. Once again in 2024 the Gophers will play a difficult non-region schedule that includes Clay-Chalkville, Mountain Brook, Hillcrest and Pinson Valley.

Coach Patterson is not afraid to schedule the big boys. The Gophers return five starters from last season to the offense and another four on defense. They will also be counting on a few newcomers to the football team when the season opens in late August.

Coach Patterson said, ''We are looking to compete for and win our region.''

The Golden Gophers are considered one of the favorites for the region four championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Golden Gophers have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2015 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.
