 2024 Preview

Enterprise completed the 2023 season with a 9-3 record. With their 6-2 region record and a second place finish in Class 7A region two, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Enterprise reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Mary Montgomery by a score of 13-10.

The Wildcats won as many games as in any season since 2016.

Since 2010, Enterprise has gone a combined 82-72. Their 53.2% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 7A over the past fourteen seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Enterprise has managed to compile a record of 152-120. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 7A and 125th in the AHSAA.

Graduated All-State Players:
Enterprise lost 7A All-State  running back Keion Dunlap to graduation. He was named to the second team last season. Also graduating were teammates offensive lineman Caden Anderson, defensive lineman Fred Vili and linebacker JT Hooten.

Head Coach:
The Wildcats are led by head coach Ben Blackmon who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 17-7 over the past two seasons at Enterprise. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Blackmon. His 146 wins rank 38th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Blackmon's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of fourteen times and won five region championships. Coach Blackmon won a state championship at Spanish Fort in 2015.

Coach Blackmon needs four wins this season to reach the 150 win milestone.

Season Outlook:

The Enterprise Wildcats will play in Class 7A region two during the 2024 season.

The Wildcats have one of the toughest overall schedules in Class 7A. Their opponents had a combined record of 73-43 last season. That ranks 4th in Class 7A and 20th in the AHSAA.

The addition of Zion Grady to an already solid defense should keep the Wildcats in the hunt for one of the four playoff spots in region 4. But as it is one of the toughest in the state that task could prove even more difficult in 2024.

In 2024 the Wildcats will face seven teams that qualified for the playoffs last year.

The Wildcats are considered one of the favorites for the region two championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

Players to Watch in 2024:
Eric Winters returns at RB after rushing for 692 yards and 11 TDs as a junior last season.

Junior MLB Walker Turner will be back after collecting 89 tackles (58 solo) for the Wildcats in 2023. CB Andrew Purcell will also return after posting 7 interceptions last fall.

Transferring in will be OLB Zion Grady who collected 82 tackles (75 solo) and 10 sacks as a junior. He is one of the top prospects in the state this year.

Returning Starters:
RB Eric Winters, CB Andrew Purcell, SS/CB Tomorris Green, MLB Walker Turner, DB Tomorris Green

Season Opener:
The Wildcats open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Andalusia on Friday, August 23 at Memorial Stadium. Last year the Andalusia Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in second place in Class 4A region two. The Bulldogs lost in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs to Jackson by a score of 31-7.

Enterprise and Andalusia have met a total of 45 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 27-16-2 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 1976 with Andalusia winning by a score of 8-3.
