2024 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hubbertville completed the 2023 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Hubbertville just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 1A region five with a 3-4 region record. Since 2010, Hubbertville has gone a combined 104-56. Their 65.0% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 1A over the past fourteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Hubbertville has managed to compile a record of 144-129. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 1A and 170th in the AHSAA. Head Coach: The Lions are led by head coach Caleb Hynds who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 16-15 over the past three seasons at Hubbertville. Under his direction the Lions have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hynds. Over the course of his career, Coach Hynds' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times and won one region championship. Season Outlook: The Hubbertville Lions will play in Class 1A region five during the 2024 season. The Lions have one of the toughest overall schedules in Class 1A. Their opponents had a combined record of 58-55 last season. That ranks 8th in Class 1A and 170th in the AHSAA. The Lions missed the playoffs the past two seasons following a run of twelve consecutive playoff seasons. Can Coach Hynds get Hubbertville back into the playoffs in 2024? There are a lot of very good teams in Region 5 with some excellent offenses so the task will not be an easy one. The Lions could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region five this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Hubbertville missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season in 2024. Season Opener: The Lions open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent University Charter School on Friday, August 30 at Tiger Stadium. Last year the University Charter School Trail Blazers finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 1A region three. The Trail Blazers lost in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs to Elba by a score of 70-8. Hubbertville and University Charter School have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Lions have a 2-1-0 record against the Trail Blazers. They last met in 2023 with University Charter School winning by a score of 22-20. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
