 2024 Preview 


       Pleasant Home finished the 2023 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Pleasant Home finished ninth in Class 1A region two with a 0-8 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The defense allowed a team record 440 points last season.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Pleasant Home averaged scoring just 9.6 points a game. The Eagles also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 44.0 points a game.

       The Eagles would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-17 record. Since 2010, Pleasant Home has gone a combined 39-104. Their 27.3% winning percentage ranks 52nd in Class 1A over the past fourteen seasons.

       Over the past 24 seasons, Pleasant Home has not won much with a record of 73-170. Their 30.0% winning percentage ranks 53rd in Class 1A and 355th in the AHSAA. The Eagles have struggled on the football field with only four winning seasons during this time.

Coaching Change:
     Cody Sellers  leaves Pleasant Home after two seasons where his teams finished a combined 3-17.

2024 Head Coach:
    Kevin Bond  most recently served as an assistant coach for the Kinston Bulldogs under head coach, Rudy Free. He also served as an assistant coach for the Elba Tigers under head coach Ed Rigby and was a member of the 2015 state championship team. He is a 2013 graduate of Troy University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. In 2017 he graduated UAB with a Master of Arts in English as a Second Language, and is a 2022 graduate of West Alabama in Educational Leadership.

Season Outlook:

       The Pleasant Home Eagles will play in Class 1A region two during the 2024 season.

      

       The Eagles enter the 2024 season in the middle of a 9 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

       The Eagles have not made the playoffs since 2017 and only once since 2012 so there is some work to be done to get the football program back to winning enough games to compete for a playoff spot in Region 2.

    This season, the Eagles will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region two.

Season Opener:
       The Eagles open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent Geneva County on Friday, August 23 at Pleasant Home Stadium. Last year the Geneva County Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in eighth place in Class 2A region two. The Bulldogs closed out the regular season with a loss to Slocomb by a score of 24-14.

       Pleasant Home and Geneva County have met a total of 9 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 1-8-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2013 with Geneva County winning by a score of 33-7.
