 2024 Preview 


       Pleasant Valley completed the 2023 season with a 5-6 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 2A region six, the Raiders earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Pleasant Valley's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Pisgah by a score of 44-20.

       It marked the first time since the 2010 season that the Raiders qualified for the playoffs. The Raiders have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2024.

       Pleasant Valley was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Raiders want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.9 points a game.

       Since 2010, Pleasant Valley has gone a combined 47-95. Their 33.1% winning percentage ranks 45th in Class 2A over the past fourteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Pleasant Valley has not won much with a record of 73-181. Their 29.0% winning percentage ranks 50th in Class 2A and 360th in the AHSAA. The Raiders have struggled on the football field with only four winning seasons during this time.

Graduated All-State Players:
       Pleasant Valley lost 2A All-State  defensive lineman Connor Crump to graduation. He was named to the second team last season.

Head Coach:
       The Raiders are led by head coach Jonathan Nix who is entering his tenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 29-62 over the past nine seasons at Pleasant Valley. Under his direction the Raiders have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Nix. Over the course of his career, Coach Nix's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times and won one region championship.

Season Outlook:

       The Pleasant Valley Raiders will play in Class 2A region seven during the 2024 season. Following realignment, the Raiders remain in 2A but move from region six over to region seven.

      

       The Pleasant Valley Raiders made the playoffs last year for the first time since the 2010 football season. They started the 2023 season 4-0 but faltered late in the season finishing 5-6.

       The Raiders are returning a nice group of players who have gained experience last season. Can they build on the 5-6 showing from a year ago?

    The Raiders have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region seven this season.

Season Opener:
       The Raiders open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent West End Walnut Grove on Friday, August 23 at Patriot Stadium. Last year the West End Walnut Grove Patriots finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 2A region six. The Patriots lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Fyffe by a score of 48-0.

       Pleasant Valley and West End Walnut Grove have met a total of 19 times on the football field. The Raiders have a 6-13-0 record against the Patriots. They last met in 2023 with Pleasant Valley winning by a score of 34-14.
