 2024 Preview 


       Theodore completed the 2023 season with a 7-4 record. With their 6-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 6A region one, the Bobcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Theodore's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Hueytown by a score of 14-0.

       The Bobcats lost as many games as in any season since 2017. The Bobcats hope to get back closer to the 13-1 record in 2022.

       The defense was very stingy last season as Theodore ranked 31st in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 14.4 points a game.

       Since 2010, Theodore has gone a combined 89-63. Their 58.6% winning percentage ranks 20th in Class 6A over the past fourteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Theodore has managed to compile a record of 162-113. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 6A and 100th in the AHSAA.

Graduated All-State Players:
       Theodore lost 6A All-State  linebacker Bobby Pruitt to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating was teammate defensive lineman Kevin Norwood.

Head Coach:
       The Bobcats are led by head coach Steve Mask who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 7-4 record in his first season at Theodore. Under his direction the Bobcats have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Mask. His 218 wins rank 15th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Mask's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of twenty-one times and won seven region championships. He has a 42-17 record in the playoffs during his career. The playoff victories rank with the best among active coaches. Coach Mask won four state championships prior to arriving at Theodore, the last coming in 2020 at St. Pauls.

Season Outlook:

       The Theodore Bobcats will play in Class 6A region one during the 2024 season.

      

       The Bobcats have reached the playoffs in each of the past seven seasons and 2024 should be no different. The addition of Gulf Shores to an already difficult region will not make the path to the post season any easier for any of the schools.

       Non-region games against 7A Baker and Fairhope will prove to be great matchups in preparation for another playoff run for the Bobcats in 2024. A couple of transfers will also help the cause for the Bobcats this fall.

    The Bobcats have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region one this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2016 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2024.

Season Opener:
       The Bobcats open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent Baker on Friday, August 23 at C.A. Douglas Field. Last year the Baker Hornets finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in second place in Class 7A region one. The Hornets lost in the first round of the Class 7A playoffs to Auburn by a score of 27-17.

       Theodore and Baker have met a total of 59 times on the football field. The Bobcats have a 48-10-1 record against the Hornets. They last met in 2023 with Baker winning by a score of 36-20.
