 2016 Preview 


       Last year Jemison finished seventh in Class 5A region 4 with a 1-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.  The defense allowed a team record 402 points last season.

       Since 2010, Jemison has gone a combined 31-32. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 25th in Class 5A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Jemison has managed to compile a record of 155-118. Their 57.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 5A and 113rd in the AHSAA.

       The Panthers are led by head coach Van Clements who is entering his first season at the helm. His team finished with a 2-7 record in his first season at Jemison. The Panthers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Clements.

       Coach Clements's overall record as a head football coach in one seasons stands at 2-7 (22.2%).

      

      The Jemison Panthers will play in Class 5A region 3 during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Panthers remain in 5A but move from region 4 over to region 3.

      

       The Panthers open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Bibb County on Friday, August 19 at Choctaw Stadium. Last year the Bibb County Choctaws finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in first place in Class 4A region 4. The Choctaws lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Straughn by a score of 7-6.

       Jemison and Bibb County have met a total of 35 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 10-23-2 record against the Choctaws. They last met in 2018 with Bibb County winning by a score of 65-21.

Collinsville completed the 1931 season with a record of 1-4-5. The five ties will forever be a state record since all games are now decided by overtime.
