 2016 Preview 


       Last year Red Bay captured the region 8 title and a number one seed in the Class 2A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Red Bay reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Fyffe by a score of 14-7.

       Averaging over ten wins a season since 2010, Red Bay has gone a combined 51-18. Their 74.0% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class 2A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Red Bay has managed to compile a record of 181-101. Their 64.0% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class 2A and 64th in the AHSAA.

       The Tigers are led by head coach Michael D. Jackson who is entering his second season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 20-3 over the past two seasons at Red Bay. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Jackson.

       Coach Jackson's overall record as a head football coach in fourteen seasons stands at 91-65 (58.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach Jackson's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eight times and won two region championships.

       The Tigers enter the 2016 season riding a 18 game regular season winning streak. Red Bay has won 18 consecutive region games.

      The Red Bay Tigers will play in Class 2A region 8 during the 2016 season.

       The Tigers should be considered one of the favorites for the Region 8 championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

       The Tigers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Colbert Heights on Friday, August 19 at Tiger Stadium. Last year the Colbert Heights Wildcats finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in sixth place in Class 3A region 8. The closed out the regular season with a loss to OPEN by a score of 999-999.

       Red Bay and Colbert Heights have met a total of 40 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 25-15-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2018 with Red Bay winning by a score of 34-18.

       Red Bay returns 2A All-State Senior defensive back Kaleb Burroughs. He was named to the first team last season. The Tigers also return Senior running back Tate Ozbirn. He was named to the second team.

Clay County shutout an amazing eleven opponents in 1996. The Panthers outscored their opponents 613-42 finishing the season 15-0.
