Fayetteville completed the 2015 season with a 9-3 record. Last year Fayetteville captured the region four title and a number one seed in the Class 2A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. It was the first region championship for the Wolves. Fayetteville reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Flomaton by a score of 49-10. No team at Fayetteville ever won more games in a season than the nine victories last year. It marked the first time since the 2004 season that the Wolves qualified for the playoffs. Since 2010, Fayetteville has gone a combined 26-36. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 35th in Class 2A over the past six seasons. Over the past 19 seasons, Fayetteville has not won much with a record of 55-132. Their 29.0% winning percentage ranks 52nd in Class 2A and 351st in the AHSAA. The Wolves are led by head coach John Limbaugh who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 22-20 over the past four seasons at Fayetteville. Under his direction the Wolves have qualified for the playoffs once. They have won one region crown with Coach Limbaugh. Coach Limbaugh's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 22-20 (52.4%). The Fayetteville Wolves will play in Class 2A region five during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Wolves remain in 2A but move from region four over to region five. The Wolves enter the 2016 season having won 6 straight region games. They have won 7 straight games on their home turf at FarmLinks Field. The Wolves should be in contention for a playoff spot in region five this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. The Wolves open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Central Coosa on Friday, August 26 at Central Stadium. Last year the Central Coosa Cougars finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 3A region three. The Cougars lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to T.R. Miller by a score of 67-16. Fayetteville and Central Coosa have met a total of 8 times on the football field. The Wolves have a 7-1-0 record against the Cougars.
