Carver completed the 2016 season with a 5-6 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 6A region two, the Wolverines earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Carver's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Spanish Fort by a score of 23-22. Since 2010, Carver has gone a combined 54-29. Their 65.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 6A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Carver has managed to compile a record of 141-141. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 29th in Class 6A and 186th in the AHSAA. After six seasons as the head football coach at Carver, Billy Gresham, has resigned to pursue other opportunities. His record with the program is 46-25 and 6-5 in the playoffs. His best squad in 2012 finished with a 12-2 record, losing in the semi-finals. Willie Spears will take over the football program at Carver for the 2017 season. He has previously been the head coach at Escambia Fl and Vernon FL. The Carver Wolverines will play in Class 6A region two during the 2017 season. The Wolverines will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region two this season. The Wolverines open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Auburn on Friday, August 25 at Cramton Bowl. Last year the Auburn Tigers finished with an overall record of 8-4 and in third place in Class 7A region two. The Tigers lost in the second round of the Class 7A playoffs to Central Phenix City by a score of 48-9. Carver and Auburn have met a total of 17 times on the football field. The Wolverines have a 6-11-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2016 with Auburn winning by a score of 17-14. Carver returns 6A All-State Senior defensive back DeMarquis Russell. He was named to the first team last season. The Wolverines also return Senior kicker Kaleb Mosley. He was named to the second team.
