 2022 Preview 


       Elberta finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Elberta just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 5A region one with a 2-4 region record.

       The Warriors have never qualified for a playoff spot and would love to break that streak this season. The Warriors have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2022.

       Elberta was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Warriors want to be competitive. They only averaged 17.0 points a game.

      

       Elberta is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only four seasons. They have managed a record of 10-24 over the past four years.




       The Warriors are led by head coach Nathan McDaniel who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 5-15 over the past two seasons at Elberta. The Warriors have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach McDaniel.

       Coach McDaniel's overall record as a head football coach in eight season stands at 36-44 (45.0%).

       The Warriors added Lane Reynolds from Daphne as defensive coordinator and hope to continue to improve with more players out for football this season.

       The Elberta Warriors will play in Class 5A region one during the 2022 season. The Warriors have one of the toughest schedules in Class 5A. Their opponents had a combined record of 64-50 last season. That ranks 5th in Class 5A and 73rd in the AHSAA.

       It will be an uphill battle for the Warriors if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region one this season. After just 2 wins last year, Elberta will be hoping to become more competitive in the region.

       The Warriors open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Bayside Academy on Friday, August 19. Last year the Bayside Academy Admirals finished with an overall record of 9-3 and in third place in Class 3A region one. The Admirals lost in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs to Catholic Montgomery by a score of 31-0.

       Elberta and Bayside Academy have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 0-4-0 record against the Admirals. They last met in 2021 with Bayside Academy winning by a score of 35-27.
