2018 Preview | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Barbour County finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 0-9 record. Last year Barbour County finished seventh in Class 2A region two with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Barbour County averaged scoring just 7.4 points a game. The Jaguars also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 48.9 points a game. The Jaguars would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 0-18 record. Since 2010, the Barbour County football program has struggled with a record of 23-58. Over the past 18 seasons, Barbour County has not won much with a record of 49-133. Their 27.0% winning percentage ranks 54th in Class 2A and 352nd in the AHSAA. The Jaguars have struggled on the football field with only four winning seasons during this time. The Jaguars will be under the direction of new head football coach Harry Mose as they enter the 2018 season. Coach Mose's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 12-28 (30.0%). Over the course of his career, Coach Mose's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time . The Barbour County Jaguars will play in Class 2A region two during the 2018 season. The Jaguars enter the 2018 season in the middle of a 41 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Jaguars will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region two. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Barbour County will be to simply win some games. The Jaguars open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Notasulga on Thursday, August 23 at Blue Devils Stadium. Last year the Notasulga Blue Devils finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 1A region three. The Blue Devils lost in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs to Sweet Water by a score of 54-0. Barbour County and Notasulga have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Jaguars have a 0-4-0 record against the Blue Devils. They last met in with | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
