Brantley completed the 2017 season with a 8-4 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 1A region two, the Bulldogs earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Brantley reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Sweet Water by a score of 41-13. As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Brantley has gone a combined 81-21. Their 79.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 1A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Brantley has gone a combined 243-65. Their 79.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class 1A and 6th in the AHSAA. The Bulldogs have been successful on the football field with twenty-three winning seasons during this time. Their last losing season was 2001. The Bulldogs will be under the direction of new head football coach Roland Jones Jr. as they enter the 2018 season. Coach Jones Jr.'s overall record as a head football coach in ten season stands at 83-30 (73.5%). The Brantley Bulldogs will play in Class 1A region two during the 2018 season. The Bulldogs have one of the toughest schedules in Class 1A. Their opponents had a combined record of 62-49 last season. The Bulldogs open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent New Brockton on Friday, August 31 at Gamecck Stadium. Last year the New Brockton Gamecocks finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 2A region three. The Gamecocks lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to St. Lukes by a score of 42-21. Brantley and New Brockton have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 2-2-0 record against the Gamecocks. They last met in 1987 with New Brockton winning by a score of 28-0. Brantley returns 1A All-State athlete Parker Driggers. He was named to the second team last season. The Bulldogs also return defensive back Tyler Booker.
