2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Northside completed the 2017 season with a 9-2 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 4A region four, the Rams earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Northside's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Alabama Christian by a score of 33-28. No team at Northside ever won more games in a season than the nine victories last year. The Rams have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2018. The defense was very stingy last season as Northside ranked 48th in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 14.6 points a game. Since 2010, Northside has gone a combined 45-39. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 21st in Class 4A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Northside has not won much with a record of 84-161. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 48th in Class 4A and 314th in the AHSAA. The Rams are led by head coach Chris Hilliker who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 36-18 over the past five seasons at Northside. Under his direction the Rams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hilliker. Coach Hilliker's overall record as a head football coach in thirteen season stands at 82-58 (58.6%). Over the course of his career, Coach Hilliker's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eleven times . The Northside Rams will play in Class 4A region five during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Rams remain in 4A but move from region four over to region five. The Rams enter the 2018 season riding a 7 game regular season winning streak. The Rams should be considered one of the favorites for the region five championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Rams open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Corner on Friday, August 24 at Corner Stadium. Last year the Corner Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 5A region six. The Yellow Jackets lost in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs to Mae Jemison by a score of 44-0. Northside and Corner have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Rams have a 2-2-0 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in with | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
