2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Randolph completed the 2017 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 4A region seven, the Raiders earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Randolph's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Jacksonville by a score of 43-13. The Raiders have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2018. Since 2010, Randolph has gone a combined 33-50. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 35th in Class 4A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 11 seasons, Randolph has managed to compile a record of 45-62. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 38th in Class 4A and 264th in the AHSAA. The Raiders will be under the direction of new head football coach Blake Killen as they enter the 2018 season. The Randolph Raiders will play in Class 4A region seven during the 2018 season. Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. The Raiders should be in contention for a playoff spot in region seven this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. The Raiders open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Lauderdale County on Friday, August 31 at SportsMed Field. Last year the Lauderdale County Tigers finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in third place in Class 3A region eight. The Tigers lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to J.B. Pennington by a score of 33-7. Randolph and Lauderdale County have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Raiders have a 1-1-0 record against the Tigers.
