Southern Choctaw completed the 2017 season with a 4-6 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 2A region one, the Indians earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Southern Choctaw's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Goshen by a score of 27-6. The Indians hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they struggled winning just four games which followed a 10-2 record in 2016. Since 2010, Southern Choctaw has gone a combined 48-38. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 21st in Class 2A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Southern Choctaw has managed to compile a record of 172-103. Their 62.0% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 2A and 76th in the AHSAA. The Indians are led by head coach Jeremy Noland who is entering his tenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 52-44 over the past nine seasons at Southern Choctaw. Under his direction the Indians have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times. They have won one region crown with Coach Noland. Coach Noland's overall record as a head football coach in nine season stands at 52-44 (54.2%). The Southern Choctaw Indians will play in Class 2A region one during the 2018 season. The Indians will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region one this season. The Indians open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Marengo on Friday, August 31 at Panther Stadium. Last year the Marengo Panthers finished with an overall record of 9-4 and in third place in Class 1A region one. The Panthers lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 1A playoffs to Wadley by a score of 34-20. Southern Choctaw and Marengo have met a total of 13 times on the football field.
