2018 Preview | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Fairview finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 2-7 record. Last year Fairview finished seventh in Class 5A region six with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Aggies lost as many games as in any season since 2006. Fairview was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Aggies want to be competitive. They only averaged 15.2 points a game. Since 2010, Fairview has gone a combined 45-39. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 20th in Class 4A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Fairview has managed to compile a record of 120-132. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 4A and 208th in the AHSAA. The Aggies are led by head coach George Redding Jr. who is entering his twelveth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 65-51 over the past eleven seasons at Fairview. Under his direction the Aggies have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Redding Jr.. Coach Redding Jr.'s overall record as a head football coach in eleven season stands at 65-51 (56.0%). The Fairview Aggies will play in Class 4A region seven during the 2018 season. The Aggies may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 5A to 4A. They will compete in region seven this year. Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. It will be an uphill battle for the Aggies if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region seven this season. After just 2 wins last year, Fairview will be hoping to become more competitive in the region. The Aggies open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent West Point on Thursday, August 23 at Dafford Smith Stadium. Last year the West Point Warriors finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in third place in Class 5A region six. The Warriors lost in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs to Brooks by a score of 41-30. Fairview and West Point have met a total of 54 times on the football field. The Aggies have a 21-32-1 record against the Warriors. They last met in 2017 with West Point winning by a score of 27-14. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
