2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hillcrest completed the 2017 season with a 10-4 record. Last year Hillcrest captured the region four title and a number one seed in the Class 6A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Hillcrest made a nice playoff run in 2017, reaching the semi-finals before falling to a very good Wetumpka team by the score of 44-27. Over the past two seasons the Patriots have gone 21-5 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, Hillcrest has gone a combined 71-26. Their 73.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 6A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Hillcrest has managed to compile a record of 157-118. Their 57.0% winning percentage ranks 25th in Class 6A and 121st in the AHSAA. The Patriots are led by head coach Sam Adams who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 38-13 over the past four seasons at Hillcrest. Under his direction the Patriots have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Adams. Coach Adams' overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 38-13 (74.5%). The Hillcrest Patriots will play in Class 6A region four during the 2018 season. The Patriots should be considered one of the favorites for the region four championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. Don't be surprised if the Patriots are making another deep run into the playoffs. The Patriots have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2006 and expect to be included again when November rolls around. The Patriots open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Spain Park on Friday, August 24 at Jaguar Stadium at Bob Finley Field. Last year the Spain Park Jaguars finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 7A region three. The Jaguars lost in the first round of the Class 7A playoffs to Hewitt-Trussville by a score of 33-21. Hillcrest and Spain Park have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Patriots have a 1-5-0 record against the Jaguars. They last met in 2007 with Spain Park winning by a score of 24-0. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
