Meek completed the 2017 season with a 7-4 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 1A region seven, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Meek's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Pickens County by a score of 34-7. The Tigers last playoff victory came during the 2003 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Since 2010, Meek has gone a combined 35-48. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 35th in Class 1A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Meek has managed to compile a record of 101-151. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 40th in Class 1A and 276th in the AHSAA. The Tigers are led by head coach David Norwood who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 7-4 record in his first season at Meek. The Tigers saw improvement from a 5-5 record the season before coach Norwood arrived. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Norwood. Coach Norwood's overall record as a head football coach in nine season stands at 49-47 (51.0%). Over the course of his career, Coach Norwood's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times and won two region championships. The Meek Tigers will play in Class 1A region six during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Tigers remain in 1A but move from region seven over to region six. The Tigers will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region six this season. The Tigers open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Cold Springs on Thursday, August 23 at Eagle Stadium. Last year the Cold Springs Eagles finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 2A region seven. The Eagles closed out the regular season with a loss to Danville by a score of 21-3. Meek and Cold Springs have met a total of 35 times on the football field.
