2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
West Limestone completed the 2017 season with a 4-7 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 4A region eight, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. West Limestone's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Fayette County by a score of 21-12. The Wildcats hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they struggled winning just four games which followed a 10-2 record in 2016. West Limestone was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Wildcats want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.3 points a game. Since 2010, West Limestone has gone a combined 51-38. Their 57.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 4A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, West Limestone has managed to compile a record of 100-150. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 42nd in Class 4A and 286th in the AHSAA. The Wildcats will be under the direction of new head football coach Shelby Davis as they enter the 2018 season. The West Limestone Wildcats will play in Class 4A region eight during the 2018 season. Region eight will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season. With a little luck and some improvement, the Wildcats could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region eight this season. The Wildcats open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Tanner on Thursday, August 23 at James Kennemer Stadium. Last year the Tanner Rattlers finished with an overall record of 3-8 and in fourth place in Class 2A region seven. The Rattlers lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Lanett by a score of 41-8. West Limestone and Tanner have met a total of 61 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 26-33-2 record against the Rattlers. They last met in 2017 with Tanner winning by a score of 32-20. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
