2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Barbour County finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Barbour County finished seventh in Class 1A region four with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Jaguars won as many games as in any season since 2013. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Barbour County averaged scoring just 1.2 points a game. The Jaguars also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 51.3 points a game. The Jaguars would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 1-15 record. Since 2010, the Barbour County football program has struggled with a record of 24-92. Over the past 22 seasons, Barbour County has not won much with a record of 50-167. Their 23.0% winning percentage ranks 59th in Class 2A and 382nd in the AHSAA. The Jaguars have struggled on the football field with only four winning seasons during this time. The Jaguars will be under the direction of new head football coach Daniel Powell as they enter the 2022 season. Coach Powell served as an assistant coach in Georgia last season. The Barbour County Jaguars will play in Class 2A region three during the 2022 season. The Jaguars move up in classification to Class 2A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move. The Jaguars enter the 2022 season in the middle of a 9 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Jaguars will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region three. The Jaguars open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Pataula Charter GA on Friday, August 19. Barbour County and Pataula Charter GA have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Jaguars have a 0-2-0 record against Pataula Charter GA.
