 2022 Preview 


       Fruitdale completed the 2021 season with a 4-7 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 1A region two, the Pirates earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Fruitdale's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Maplesville by a score of 40-6.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Fruitdale averaged scoring just 13.6 points a game.

       Since 2010, the Fruitdale football program has struggled with a record of 41-84.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Fruitdale has not won much with a record of 87-171. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 50th in Class 1A and 328th in the AHSAA.




       The Pirates will be under the direction of new head football coach Vacant as they enter the 2022 season.  

       The Fruitdale Pirates will play in Class 1A region one during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Pirates remain in 1A but move from region two over to region one.

       Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. The Pirates should be in contention for a playoff spot in region one this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Pirates open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent University Charter School on Friday, August 26 at Indians Stadium.
