2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Millry completed the 2021 season with a 8-4 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 1A region two, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Millry reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Brantley by a score of 48-15. Since 2010, Millry has gone a combined 69-62. Their 52.7% winning percentage ranks 23rd in Class 1A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Millry has managed to compile a record of 163-117. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 1A and 105th in the AHSAA. The Wildcats are led by head coach Shane Hendry who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 8-4 record in his first season at Millry. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hendry. Coach Hendry's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 8-4 (66.7%). The Millry Wildcats will play in Class 1A region one during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Wildcats remain in 1A but move from region two over to region one. Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. The Wildcats should be considered one of the favorites for the region one championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Wildcats have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2013 and expect to be included again when November rolls around. The Wildcats open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Citronelle on Friday, August 19 at A.D. Britton Field. Last year the Citronelle Wildcats finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in eighth place in Class 6A region one. The Wildcats ended last season on a positive note with a win over Leroy by a score of 6-2 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Millry and Citronelle have met a total of 7 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 1-5-1 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 1968 with Citronelle winning by a score of 87-0. Millry returns 1A All-State sophomore receiver Jquan Stewart. He was named to the honorable mention team last season. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
