 2022 Preview 


       Lee completed the 2021 season with a 5-6 record. With their 3-3 region record and a third place finish in Class 5A region eight, the Generals earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Lee's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Leeds by a score of 41-22.

       It marked the first time since the 2017 season that the Generals qualified for the playoffs.

       Since 2010, Lee has gone a combined 43-81. Their 34.7% winning percentage ranks 49th in Class 6A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Lee has managed to compile a record of 102-161. Their 39.0% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 6A and 297th in the AHSAA.




       The Generals are led by head coach Irving McGuire who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 5-6 record in his first season at Lee. The Generals saw improvement from a 2-8 record the season before coach McGuire arrived. Under his direction the Generals have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach McGuire.

       Coach McGuire's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 5-6 (45.5%).

       The Lee Generals will play in Class 6A region eight during the 2022 season. The Generals move up in classification to Class 6A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move.

       The Generals will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region eight this season.

       The Generals open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Westminster Christian on Friday, August 19 at Earl Van Dyke Stadium. Last year the Westminster Christian Wildcats finished with an overall record of 5-5 and in fifth place in Class 4A region seven. The Wildcats closed out the regular season with a loss to Lee Huntsville by a score of 43-40.

       Lee and Westminster Christian have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Generals have a 2-2-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2021 with Lee winning by a score of 43-40.
