Locust Fork finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Locust Fork just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 2A region six with a 2-5 region record. The Hornets last playoff victory came during the 2001 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Locust Fork struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 36.7 points a game. Since 2010, Locust Fork has gone a combined 52-72. Their 41.9% winning percentage ranks 37th in Class 2A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Locust Fork has managed to compile a record of 107-154. Their 41.0% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 2A and 278th in the AHSAA. The Hornets are led by head coach Billy Adams who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 3-7 record in his first season at Locust Fork. The Hornets have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Adams. Coach Adams' overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 3-7 (30.0%). The Locust Fork Hornets will play in Class 2A region six during the 2022 season. It will be an uphill battle for the Hornets if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region six this season. The Hornets open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Appalachian on Thursday, August 18 at Pate Field. Last year the Appalachian Eagles finished with an overall record of 1-8 and in sixth place in Class 1A region seven. The Eagles closed out the regular season with a loss to Southeastern by a score of 39-7. Locust Fork and Appalachian have met a total of 16 times on the football field.
