2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
New Hope completed the 2021 season with a 4-6 record. Last year New Hope finished seventh in Class 4A region seven with a 1-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. New Hope was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Indians want to be competitive. They only averaged 16.2 points a game. Since 2010, New Hope has gone a combined 52-71. Their 42.3% winning percentage ranks 42nd in Class 4A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, New Hope has managed to compile a record of 100-154. Their 39.0% winning percentage ranks 46th in Class 4A and 295th in the AHSAA. The Indians will be under the direction of new head football coach Tyler Johnson as they enter the 2022 season. Coach Johnson served as an assistant coach at James Clemens in 2021. The New Hope Indians will play in Class 4A region eight during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Indians remain in 4A but move from region seven over to region eight. This season, the Indians will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region eight. The Indians open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Sardis on Friday, August 26 at Jack Mitchell Stadium. Last year the Sardis Lions finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in sixth place in Class 5A region seven. The Lions closed out the regular season with a loss to Hokes Bluff by a score of 42-12. New Hope and Sardis have met a total of 16 times on the football field. The Indians have a 7-9-0 record against the Lions. They last met in 2011 with Sardis winning by a score of 28-20. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
