 2022 Preview 


       Northside Methodist Academy finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Northside Methodist Academy finished in Class Ind region with a 0-0 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Knights have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2022.

      

       Northside Methodist Academy is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only eight seasons. They have managed a record of 30-55 over the past eight years.




       The Knights are led by head coach Toby Greene who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 3-7 record in his first season at Northside Methodist Academy. The Knights have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Greene.

       Coach Greene's overall record as a head football coach in twenty season stands at 107-105 (50.5%). His 107 wins rank 51st among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Greene's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eight times and won three region championships.

       The Knights played as an independent the past two seasons in preparations for the jump from playing as an independent to the AHSAA.

       The Northside Methodist Academy Knights will play in Class 3A region two during the 2022 season. The Knights may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class Ind to 3A. They will compete in region two this year.

       Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. It will be an uphill battle for the Knights if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region two this season.

       The Knights open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Houston County on Thursday, August 18 at Northcutt Field. Last year the Houston County Lions finished with an overall record of 5-5 and in sixth place in Class 2A region two.

       Northside Methodist Academy and Houston County have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Knights have a 3-1-0 record against the Lions. They last met in 2021 with Houston County winning by a score of 19-13.

Clay County shutout an amazing eleven opponents in 1996. The Panthers outscored their opponents 613-42 finishing the season 15-0.
