 2022 Preview 


       Weaver finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Weaver finished sixth in Class 3A region five with a 1-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Weaver averaged scoring just 11.3 points a game. The Bearcats also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 45.8 points a game.

       The Bearcats would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 1-18 record. Since 2010, Weaver has gone a combined 53-77. Their 40.8% winning percentage ranks 39th in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Weaver has managed to compile a record of 116-154. Their 43.0% winning percentage ranks 43rd in Class 3A and 257th in the AHSAA.




       The Bearcats are led by head coach Gary Atchley who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 1-9 record in his first season at Weaver. The Bearcats saw improvement from a 0-9 record the season before coach Atchley arrived. The Bearcats have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Atchley.

       Coach Atchley's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 1-9 (10.0%).

       The Weaver Bearcats will play in Class 3A region four during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Bearcats remain in 3A but move from region five over to region four.

       The Bearcats enter the 2022 season in the middle of a 8 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

       It will be an uphill battle for the Bearcats if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region four this season. After just a single win last year, Weaver will be hopeful of winning a few more games this season.

       The Bearcats open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Donoho on Friday, August 19 at Bill Bryan Stadium. Last year the Donoho Falcons finished with an overall record of 2-7 and in sixth place in Class 1A region five. The Falcons closed out the regular season with a loss to Westbrook Christian by a score of 37-26.

       Weaver and Donoho have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Bearcats have a 1-1-0 record against the Falcons. They last met in with
