 2022 Preview 


       Childersburg completed the 2021 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Childersburg just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 3A region four with a 3-4 region record.

       Since 2010, Childersburg has gone a combined 46-79. Their 36.8% winning percentage ranks 45th in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Childersburg has managed to compile a record of 99-157. Their 39.0% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 3A and 300th in the AHSAA.




       The Tigers are led by head coach Johnny Johnson who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 7-13 over the past two seasons at Childersburg. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Johnson.

       Coach Johnson's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 7-13 (35.0%).

       The Childersburg Tigers will play in Class 3A region four during the 2022 season.

       The Tigers will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region four this season. Childersburg has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2017 but hope to return to the post season this year.

       The Tigers open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Munford on Friday, August 19 at John Cox Stadium. Last year the Munford Lions finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in sixth place in Class 4A region four. The Lions closed out the regular season with a loss to Ohatchee by a score of 47-20.

       Childersburg and Munford have met a total of 31 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 16-15-0 record against the Lions. They last met in 2017 with Munford winning by a score of 28-7.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
